Oxo-biodegradable plastics have been in commercial use since 1970’s, and are based in commodity polyolefin's, particularly polyethylene and polypropylene.
The length of useful life of an oxo-degradable plastic is determined by antioxidants contained within the formulation, which can be modified, so that the plastic product degrades according, whatever time scale is required. |
